Is Chex Cereal Gluten-Free? Yes and No!
First, let’s answer the question: “Is Chex cereal gluten-free?” The answer is both yes and no, depending entirely on which Chex variety you choose. With so wide a variety of Chex on today’s shelves, it can be confusing, especially if you’re managing gluten sensitivity or celiac disease.
The Gluten-Free Chex Options
Let’s start with the good news. Rice Chex cereal and Corn Chex are both certified gluten-free, made with whole grain rice or corn, and clearly labeled by General Mills, a proud sponsor of the Celiac Disease Foundation. These classics remain among the most trusted gluten-free Chex cereals on the market today.
They’re also free from artificial colors, artificial flavors, and high fructose corn syrup, which makes them a wholesome choice for the whole family. Other gluten-free Chex cereals you can safely enjoy include Honey Nut Chex, Cinnamon Chex, Chocolate Chex, Chex Vanilla, and even seasonal blends.
The Varieties That Are Not Gluten-Free
Not all Chex products are safe. Wheat Chex contains gluten and should be avoided. Additionally, packaged blends like the original Chex Mix may include bagel chips, wheat ingredients, or components from a bioengineered source, so they don’t qualify as a gluten-free option. Always double-check product information labels to confirm.
A Fun Twist for the Holidays
